Volunteering at Clearview Public Library

The Clearview Public Library is a registered charity. Like other charities in our community, we rely on the active volunteer participation of members of our community to achieve the Library’s goals. The Clearview Public Library Board encourages you to apply for one of our many volunteer positions today!

The process couldn’t be simpler. Just ask circulation staff at any branch for a Clearview Public Library Volunteer Application form and complete the AODA training. Return your completed application to the library and the CEO will contact you to arrange an interview. Together we will determine the best days/times for the library and yourself.

When you begin volunteering at the library you will be required to sign a Volunteer Consent Form regarding confidential information and workers’ compensation insurance. Staff will provide you with the training for the duties you will fulfill. If you have any questions staff are always available to help.

Remember, the Library relies on the commitment of its volunteers. if you are not able to come at your regularly scheduled day/time please advise staff at the branch where you volunteer. Volunteers, particularly high school volunteers attempting to complete their community involvement hours should note that consistently missing scheduled hours and/or substandard performance of assigned duties may lead to termination of the volunteer position.

Teen volunteer opportunities

The library has opportunities for teens to gain volunteer hours. These opportunities include:

  • Teen book reviews
  • Assist Teen Programmer with weekly Youth Crew group
  • Assist Children’s Programmer with craft preparation (cutting, gluing, assembling)
  • Assist Public Programmer with summer special events

Fill out the volunteer form and we will contact you when an opportunity is available.

Teen book reviews

We now have a new way to earn volunteer hours at the library – by writing reviews! Teens can write about a book from any genre they love. Reviews must be 100-250 words in length. Library staff will read your awesome reviews and approved reviews will be posted on the library’s website. Each approved review earns you 1 volunteer hour towards your Ontario Secondary School Diploma with a maximum of 40 hours possible! (Yeah, we know. It’s amazingly easy and fun to do!)

Reviews must be written in your own words, they must contain both a summary of the book, as well as a personal critique. Your opinion is super important and we want to hear it!

Send us your Book Review to ehamerton@clearview.ca.
